embodiment as reckoning.
I began making art in 2024 in the aftermath of a traumatic brain injury. My current work plays with topics of femininity, grief, and embodiment.
My work spans a variety of media, including painting, collage, drawing, and screen printing. My screen prints are made from physical collages I create, then draw, and then print. Typically, the inspiration for the collage comes from a specific poem I've written.
Presently, I am obsessed with the feminized body as subject. Even in trauma discourse, we refer to the feminized body as a location, a place where something took place. What would it look like to try to remove objectification from these bodies? What would it feel like?
My brain injury left me with visual deficits that make daily tasks difficult or inaccessible. Your purchases of my art help me to pay my copays for neuro-optometrist appointments.
